Program Philosophy

"Championship attitude on the field, in the classroom, and in life."

The game of football, at the high school level, is a teaching tool and an opportunity. It is a tool to teach young men the value of loyalty, honor, pride, hard work, competition, teamwork, performing under pressure, and character.  This game allows young men to learn these qualities through experience.  It is an opportunity for them not only to learn the value of these qualities, but also to build and instill them into their lives.  It gives young men a chance to form bonds and relationships that only come by being part of a team, part of this game; bonds and relationships that last a lifetime.

The Mountain View High School Football Program's philosophy is predicated upon creating a positive environment where student-athletes can have fun and feel good about playing football while acquiring life-long skills.  Emphasis will be placed on maintaining and/or improving citizenship, sportsmanship, and the academic skills of each athlete.  Fundamentals and strategies of football will be taught and stressed by every coach in the program.  It is the goal of the coaching staff to mold our student-athletes into a quality football team where emphasis is on the TEAM and not the individual.  Additionally, the coaching staff will strive to assist student-athletes in improving
their mental and physical athletic skills as they advance through the program.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Mountain View High School Football Program is to field a team that excels on the field, achieves in the classroom, and positively impacts our school as well as the community. Every athlete in our program will be treated with respect and dignity as we strive to reach our fullest potential as a team and as individuals. Emphasis will be placed on teaching life-long lessons and the development of young men of quality character. Character is who we really are!  We will honor the great game of football by always playing with class, within the rules, and playing as hard as we physically can!
